Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
Haha nice.
You all gotta bring back that Shokaholics/No-Limit Soldier, People hate me but I hate them more, Go Over-Around-or At them attitude that Burton tennis is all about.
Judging by some posters on here I can tell Burton psyche has taken a hit with the GC hype. For example after my first post on this thread, a Raider outright said, "this is for predictions, not to talk more about Gate City tennis" or something to that effect.
Seriously what kind of reponse is that. From a Raider I expect something like, "You shut the ******** up. Waddle your ****** old broken ***** down to the court and let's go at it. And for that matter, let the whole LPD take their best shot at us."
Or is Gate City good enough that they got you scared.
If I'm p'ing you off... Good. Get mad. You'll need it.
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
haha that's great...but im not a raider
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
those comments would pretty much be right along with what i think about burton anyway
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
I graduated before GC came to the district but we scrimmaged them when they had Blanton and Bays a few times. I think we beat them 7-2 at weber city and 5-4 at uva-w. They were the best team we played all year though. We lost the state final 5-4 but it was a matter of losing 2 matches where we had match point. GC was alot better than Radford in my opinion. The sad thing is we beat Radford the year before in the state semis. I think Gaswami played #5 that year as a freshman then won state in individuals his junior and senior years when he beat Derek Wood.
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
corey and dustin were two of the better players we've ever had
id rank them like this
1. Henning Kuich
2. Dustin Bays
3. Corey Blanton
4. Briggs Shreve
5. Eric Wininger
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
You would have been shocked at how good the lpd once was in tennis...My 8th grade year, a guy from appy represented Region D at state, Appy went as a team and PV was the team that went to the regions with them. PV was always loaded with foreign exchange guys. They had one guy come along in 96 that was a little bit better than Henning who was German as well. Clintwood was very good, Kelly was very good and Burton was like 7-5 on the season. Pound and Coeburn were their usual bad selves though.
Then when me and my guys came along as freshman, we started the dynasty(without a state title) thing. Only Kelly remained good, Appy became what they are now, PV ran out of exchange students, Clintwood went into the toilet, and Kelly became our only competition. Over 4 seasons, I was 0-18 against Jon Hincher in singles and doubles, thats gotta be some kind of record.
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
haha well i was prob 0-20 against henning in practice, so youre not alone
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
Here is mine: Gate City, Norton & Clintwood Tied for 2nd, Coeburn, Pound, Wise, PV, Appy.
That is way it could be when smoke clears first week of May 2006.
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
Burton going to 6 years in a row. It is going to be tough, but Hell it aint supposed to be easy. If you win it this year you have prove to be dynasty of the decade.
Gate City could start their own dynasty though beginning with this year. Clintwood could also sneak in back door. They too have a good nucleaus.
Beware of the masked Raider. He will cut your throat and leave you for dead.
Re: LPD Tennis Predictions
The Best I have seen: Henning-1, Stephon Sickle-2, Hincher -3, Wood-4, then combo of England, Sapra, crowder and markey Dotson in 10th grade year.
